Turnover of plasma glucose and free fatty acids in patients on the first day after myocardial infarction.

چکیده
1. The turnover of plasma glucose and free fatty acids was measured in ten patients within 24 h of the onset of symptoms of acute myocardial infarction and in two with symptoms of acute myocardial ischaemia. The measurements were repeated in seven of the patients 12-40 weeks after the acute episode. 2. Both for the patients with acute myocardial infarction alone and for all the individuals studied the turnover of glucose increased with plasma glucose concentration but was not related to the turnover of free fatty acids or the plasma concentrations of free fatty acids, insulin or total catecholamines. There was no obvious difference in the nature of the glucose turnover-concentration relationship between the patients with acute myocardial infarction, with acute myocardial ischaemia and on re-examination. 3. For all the individuals studied the turnover of free fatty acids increased with the concentration of these but was not related to the turnover of glucose or the plasma concentrations of glucose, insulin or total catecholamines. There was no obvious difference in the nature of the free fatty acids turnover-concentration relaionship between the patients with acute myocardial infarction, with acute myocardial ischaemia and on re-examination.

Comparative Evaluation of the Effect of the Foods with Different Glycemic Indices on Blood Glucose and Serum Free Fatty Acids in Cycling, Male Athletes
Abstract Background and Objective: Carbohydrates are considered as the major source of energy in physical activity. Studies show that consumption of carbohydrate foods before exercise can balance blood glucose and free fatty acids and increase athletes’ performance. In this study , we compared the effect of three kinds of foods with different glycemic indices on blood glucose (BG) and se...
متن کاملPlasma catecholamines and carbohydrate metabolism in patients with acute myocardial infarction.
Blood glucose, glucose tolerance, serum insulin, free fatty acids in serum, plasma noradrenaline, and plasma adrenaline were measured in 10 patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI) as well as in healthy subjects. Both noradrenaline and adrenaline in plasma were elevated in patients with AMI, the level being fairly constant in the individual patients and dependent on their degree of illne...
متن کاملThe Effects of Simvastatin on Free Fatty Acids Profile in Fructose-fed Insulin Resistant Rats
Backgrounds: Type 2 diabetes mellitus is the most common metabolic disease and free fatty acids, as signaling molecules, can play a crucial role in the development of it. Different free fatty acids, through various cell membrane receptors, induce different effects on metabolic pathways and thereby affect insulin sensitivity. Simvastatin is a cholesterol decreasing drug prescrib...
متن کاملPlasma bilirubin and serum free fatty acids after myocardial infarction.
Fasting concentrations of plasma bilirubin were measured in 34 patients on admission to hospital and daily for 7 days after uncomplicated myocardial infarction. Mean concentrations increased significantly to reach maximum levels on the second day after admission, and fell during the following 5 days to reach the admission level by the 7th day. Unconjugated bilirubin accounted for most of this r...

Serum IgE and beta 2 microglobulin levels were determined in 31 patients suffering from acute myocardial infarction and 30 patients with other forms of ischemic heart disease. The levels of these parameters were studied on the first, third and seventh day after the onset of disease. The immunological method used for the determinations was ELISA Patients with myocardial infarction showed an...
